National publications such as Sports Illustrated, Bleacher Report, and USA Today have recognized Madison as the best college football town in the country. Join Badger Nation in watching the games at one of these lively spots in downtown Madison.
- Union South - 1308 W. Dayton St., Madison, WI 53715
On game day, team spirit permeates every inch of Union South, located just steps away from the school's iconic Camp Randall Memorial Arch. Described as the "south campus living room," Union South is a popular student gathering place at any time. When the Badgers are playing a home game, it becomes host to Badger Bash, beginning 2-1/2 hours before kickoff. Performances by the UW Marching Band and Spirit Squad pump up the energy while games, live music, and food round out this family-friendly event.
- Great Dane Pub & Brewing - 123 E. Doty St., Madison, WI 53703
Just over 25 years ago, Great Dane Pub & Brewing became the first brewpub near Madison homes for sale. Before long, the Great Dane established itself as one of the premier spots for the Badger faithful to assemble. The food menu blends classic Wisconsin eats with globally inspired dishes. Items include West African chicken peanut stew, Wisconsin-style Cheddar mac, and Mediterranean falafel bowl. If you scored tickets to the game, all four Madison locations provide free shuttle service. Hours are 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. - 1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. - 1 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Sunday.
- Nitty Gritty -223 N. Frances St., Madison, WI 53703
Leave the hot dogs for baseball. Football calls for one of the award-winning burgers from the Nitty Gritty, housed in a historic building that dates back to 1898. Their signature namesake burger features six ounces of ground chuck topped with their "secret" sour cream-based sauce and served on a honey wheat bun. All 10 burgers carry a suggested pairing from among the dozens of beers on tap. When it's time for a more personal celebration, head to the Nitty Gritty on your birthday for a free soda, beer, or specialty cocktail in a memento glass. The Nitty Gritty is open daily from 11 a.m. - midnight except on weekends when doors open at 10 a.m.
- SCONNIEBAR - 1421 Regent St., Madison, WI 53711
SCONNIEBAR is as close to the action as you can get without actually being inside Camp Randall Stadium. In fact, you'll actually hear the roar of the crowd when the Badgers score a touchdown. With 37 TVs, including the 10-foot SCONNIECREEN, there's not a bad seat in the house. Enjoy classic bar foods such as wings, nachos, and their trademark burger with a brat, bacon, havarti, and BBQ sauce on top. Customers give SCONNIEBAR extra points for the wonderful servers who keep up with the game day crowds. Hours are 11 a.m. - midnight daily, extended to 2 a.m. on Friday and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
- 7 Iron Social - 508 State St., Second Floor, Madison, WI 53703
Football's not the only sport going on at 7 Iron Social. During halftime, challenge your friends to one of a dozen games on the full-screen simulators. Choices include golf, soccer, hockey, and, yes, football. A full bar and food menu are available. 7 Iron Social is open 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. Thursday, 4 p.m. - midnight Friday, and 4 p.m. - 1 a.m. Saturday.
