July Food Trucks

Summertime is one of my favorite seasons. It's the time of year when Wisconsin really comes to life, and I try to spend as much time outdoors as I can.

If you're looking for a bite to eat and don't want to be stuck inside this summer, food trucks are the answer. The Madison area has some great food trucks, and they're the perfect option for grabbing an amazing meal while enjoying the sunshine.

  • Curd Girl - 15 E Main St, Madison, WI 53703
If Wisconsin is known for one thing, it's cheese. You'll find some of the best around at Curd Girl, a charming, farm-themed cheese-centric food truck that makes the rounds throughout the Madison area. Their hot, fresh cheese curds are next-level and served alongside your choice of dipping sauces like buttermilk ranch and sriracha aioli. A staple of local fairs and festivals, they're also available for private bookings. Wondering where else you can find the food truck? They often set up at the Dane County Farmers Market on Saturdays.

  • Saigon Sandwich - 257-299 N Charter St, Madison, WI 53715
If you haven't had a banh mi, allow me to introduce you to your new favorite sandwich. This Vietnamese creation starts with a generous portion of BBQ pork, chicken, meatballs or vegetarian tofu in a fresh, fluffy French roll. Top it off with pickled veggies, mayo, spicy jalapenos, and fresh cilantro, and you're in business. You'll find some of the best banh mis in the Midwest at Saigon Sandwich, an unassuming food cart that sets up on the corner of Johnson and Charter in Downtown Madison. You don't want to miss it.

  • Toast - 715 State St, Madison, WI 53703
Looking for the best paninis in town? Toast has you covered. This well-established food truck has been feeding the masses with crispy, melty, saucy, tasty sandwiches since 2013. Toast's typical haunt is Library Mall on the University of Wisconsin Campus, but you'll see them out and about at plenty of festivals and events, including Madison's Night Market.

  • The Roost - State St, Madison, WI 53703
When nothing but homemade fried chicken will satisfy your hunger, head to The Roost. They serve made-from-scratch chicken tender baskets and fried chicken sandwiches along with classic sides like coleslaw, French fries, and fried cheese curds. The chicken here is no joke, and this food truck is in high demand, circulating through local festivals, markets, and breweries all summer long. Look for The Roost each month at Madison's Night Market on State Street.

  • Cinn City Smash - 924 Williamson St, Madison, WI 53703
Cinn City Smash is a newer addition to the scene that's hard to miss, with a colorful mural depicting a cheeseburger monster and a churro monster smashing the city of Madison on the side of this big, purple food truck. And you won't want to miss it, because Cinn City Smash serves up some of the tastiest burgers in the city. Everything is made fresh, including the churros, which come in 3 flavors: plain, raspberry and Nutella. Plus there are options for vegans, vegetarians, and those who are gluten-free. Cinn City Smash can be found at various festivals around town, plus they are regularly outside of I/O Arcade Bar. Check their website for exact locations and dates.

  • El Wiscorican - 1225 W Dayton St, Madison, WI 53706
Madison's finest authentic Puerto Rican food is served at El Wiscorican, an outstanding food truck that has earned a devoted following. Rotating daily specials include pastelón, pollo al carbon, and mahi mahi fish fry, all bursting with flavor. El Wiscorican frequently sets up on the University of Wisconsin campus near Union South during lunchtime. But get there early; there's often a line, and they usually sell out.
